The Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program provides an additional avenue for securing permanent residency, facilitating local employers in hiring qualified workers for positions that remain unfilled within the region. This pilot program encompasses four provinces: New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island. Candidates may either be located overseas or residing temporarily in Canada.

Three distinct programs are available for hiring individuals:

  1. Atlantic International Graduate Program
  2. Atlantic High-skilled Program
  3. Atlantic Intermediate-skilled Program

Each program entails specific requirements that both the employer and the candidate must fulfill.

Employers seeking to hire foreign workers must obtain designation from the provincial government of the Atlantic province where the individual will be employed. To achieve designation, the hiring organization must be in good standing, have a minimum of two years of operation in the Atlantic region, and collaborate with a settlement service provider organization to facilitate settlement services for their candidates.

Notably, no Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is required to hire foreign workers under this program. However, the province must endorse the job offer before the candidate can apply for permanent resident status.

For all three programs, applicants must demonstrate proficiency in language, meet education and work experience prerequisites, and showcase financial capability to support themselves and their families upon arrival in Canada.
